Piggy banks are typically used for physically storing a rainy day fund, but what if they were positioned as robbing you for your own good? The Swinedeler’s Guild offers a fun perspective on the idea of saving with mini piggy banks that display various illustrated, stereotypical thief personas seen in everyday pop culture. This product line is named “Swinedeler’s Guild” by the novelty toy company Fake Bank Industries, which is shorthand for F.B.I. as a play on the slang term “pigs,” and to further link the robbery concept to each piggy bank. The 5 depicted personalities include a mob boss, an art thief temptress, a corporate money launderer, a hipster computer hacker, and a jailbird mastermind. The packages are printed via flatbed printer on bristol paper and constructed as “getaway cars” with illustrated detailing, acetate windows that showcase the piggy banks inside, and an interactive trunk for removing the robbers. The selected vehicles include a sleek, black Rolls-Royce-inspired vehicle, a speedy pink hatchback, a taxi, an incognito flower truck, and a police truck used for inmate transportation. Each piggy thief’s chosen ride deepens the connection to their backstory and identities as robbers. Packaging die cuts, typography, and all vector graphics created using Adobe Illustrator.
